Colin Baker was born a full-term twin to his sister, Casey, on November 8, 1995. Colin weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and Casey 7 lbs. 13 oz. Six weeks after his birth, Colin was admitted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with severe breathing problems. He was diagnosed with Congenital Pulmonary Vein Stenosis, which meant the veins in his lung system were too small to carry oxygenated blood throughout his body. On Christmas Day, 1995, we were told Colin would need a double lung transplant to survive. Colin was immediately put on the list to await his much-needed transplant. Colin received his life saving "gift of life" on January 31, 1996, thanks to the generosity of a donor family who had lost their own child.

Colin took a daily regimen of 13 medications twice a day, but otherwise did extremely well after his double lung transplant. Colin enjoyed a "normal" childhood with his 4 other siblings, which included roller blading, bike riding, swimming, participating on organized soccer and basketball teams and even got to attend Kindergarten. We believe every day is a gift and Colin lived that philosophy to the fullest enjoying every minute of every day!

Spring of 2001, we learned that Colin was in rejection and needed another double lung transplant. After 10 months of waiting, Colin again was fortunate enough to get his much needed organ and on March 11, 2002, Colin underwent another double lung transplant. Initially, Colin seemed to do well, but second transplants are very difficult, and on July 17, 2002, Colin passed away due to complications from his transplant. While Colin is dearly missed by family, friends, and classmates, we are grateful for the wonderful 6 1/2 years we had him in our lives. Colin's courageous fight against incredible odds exemplifies what it means to be a true champion!

Over these past 6 1/2 years, our family has been involved with some great organizations
such as Children's Miracle Network and Gift of Life and of course, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. It is because of their efforts on behalf of children in our area that we asked donations be made to any one of these worthwhile organizations. Following are a list of their addresses:
